Eugene Joseph Constant Pierre Petit was born in Paris in 1839.  He was a pupil of Ed. Müller and Dieterle.

Eugène Petit left a considerable oeuvre, and his works are in museums in Compiège, Courtai, Rouen and St-Etienne.
